Scripture: Matthew 13:58 And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.
Observation: Jesus, in his own country, was hindered by those that questioned and doubted. How often, do we do the same? How often do we, the joint heirs (Jesus calls us His brothers and sisters in Matthew 12:50) question whether or not God really knows what is best? How often do we doubt God's provision for us and try to make things work out on our own? How often does our unbelief cause God to not do many mighty works in our own lives?
Application: Many times I have faced a fear or an obstacle in my life and paused and wondered what God is doing.. teetering on the edge of doubt - wondering if God is hearing my prayers, questioning if He really is going to provide for me. Many times, I have hindered His work by my disbelief and doubts. But praise the Lord, there have been many times when I trusted as well... and it is those times that I have been able to see the mighty work of God in my life... that is the place that I want to dwell... safe in God's hand, surrounded by mighty works and miracles.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your Word today. Thank You for the reminder, that no matter what, we can trust You, and that in those times that we do doubt, we are hindering Your working in our lives. Please Lord, help me to walk by faith, live in grace and always trust in Your perfect will. Help me to share the work You do in my life with others so that they may see Your mighty hand and come to trust You in their own lives. Please Lord, let everything that happens in my life bring You honor and glory, and point others to You. In Jesus name, Amen.
