Matthew 2:1-2

Scripture: Matthew 2:1-2 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him.

Observations: In spite of God's silence for 400 years, these wiseman had not lost faith. They were still watching, still waiting, and were ready to worship when God fulfilled His promise. And they weren't seeking anything for their own gain... they simply came to worship.

Application: Often, we as Christians forget to watch and wait... and we are often too busy to worship. We go to church, we pray and we serve, waiting for the blessings - the answered prayers, and when God doesn't answer our prayers right away, we tend to think one of three things... either He didn't hear, or He doesn't care, or we didn't do enough. And we give up on His timing and start trying to do it our own way. But that isn't biblical in any way, shape, or form! We don't go t o church and worship to see our prayers answered- we worship because He deserves it! We don't serve to be blessed - we serve because we are blessed! In our own way and our own timing should not be the way we live our lives - it should be HIS way and HIS timing!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, Help me to be more like the wise men. Help me to be patient when You tell me to wait, help me to worship You no matter what the circumstance, and help me to serve faithfully, not to earn your grace or blessings, but because You have already blessed me with You grace. Help me to never forget to be watching, waiting for the return of Christ, and to fill my time here with worshipping You. In Jesus name, Amen.
