Matthew 5:48

Note: The scripture has a link that will take you to an online, King James bible
if you would like to read the whole chapter.

Scripture: Matthew 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your father which is in heaven is perfect.

Observation: Wow! Perfection is a pretty high goal to aim for, yet that is exactly what Jesus says right here. The dictionary defines perfect as finished; complete; consummate; not defective; having all that is requisite to its nature and kind; fully informed; completely skilled; or complete in moral excellencies. Manifesting perfection.... Not really what we tend to think of, it is? We tend to think of perfection as without flaw... but the definition above seems more to be speaking of completeness... and we have that completeness in and through Christ.

Colossians 2:10  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Application: I can't even begin to tell you how many ways Jesus has taken the broken pieces of my life and made them complete. Where so much was missing, He filled the voids, where so much was broken, He mended the pieces, where so much was destroyed , He rebuilt, and strengthened, where there was no hope, He came in and gave hope. Without Jesus Christ, there was no completeness, but through Jesus Christ, His shed blood on Calvary, and His ressurection from the grave, all things are new, and there is perfection, completion and a want of nothing.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I can never say thank You enough for the way You have changed my life. Your saving grace and Your great love as brought me from destruction and ruin to a completeness that I never even knew existed. Thank You for all that You have done in my life, all You have promised to do, and all You continue to do each day. Please help my heart to always be open to Your word and Your work in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
